Since 2016, his short films have been creating ripples at distinguished film festivals such as the Cleveland International Film Festival, ShortShorts Film Festival & Asia, Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), and Buenos Aires International Film Festival. These milestones have been pivotal, marking D. Mitry as a filmmaker with a unique voice and a distinctive creative vision.

 

In February 2020, D. Mitry reached the summit of his creative pursuits with the completion of his inaugural feature film, "My True Fairytale"—a poignant homage to his late daughter. Wearing multiple hats as the writer, director, and producer, he invested his heart and soul into the project, earning acclaim for its emotional depth and storytelling prowess at various festivals, including the world premiere at the Academy Award-Qualifying Cinequest in March 2021.

 

April 2021 brought another significant breakthrough as "My True Fairytale" secured global distribution through Gravitas Ventures and Myriad Pictures, gracing screens in over 100 million homes globally. This achievement amplified D.Mitry's storytelling, resonating with audiences far and wide.

 

In the midst of these accomplishments, D. Mitry's latest short film, "Hedgehog," attained the pinnacle of recognition by qualifying for submission in the 2024 Oscar Live Action Short Film category. This further underscores D. Mitry’s unwavering ability to craft compelling stories that captivate audiences, whether on the festival circuit or in the comfort of their homes.
